Atlassian Jira, blue diamond mark on a dark horizon

01 / Overview

Jira plugins are pieces of software that plug into the Jira task management platform and provide new and augmented functionality. They deliver a wide range of capability while making Jira faster and easier to use.

The Atlassian Connector is a Jira plugin that combines the power of JFrog Artifactory with both Jira Server and Jira Data Center. It lets users store large files and attachments directly to Artifactory, delivers a seamless experience to the user, and maintains administrative control over permission set and file visibility.

02 / Key features

01

Direct upload to Artifactory

Users store large files and attachments directly to Artifactory from the Jira issue view. The flow is the same as a standard Jira attachment, the storage is not.

02

Jira Server and Data Center support

The same plugin deploys to both editions of Jira. There is no separate build for one or the other.

03

Permission set under administrative control

The administrator keeps full control over the permission set and the visibility of each file. Existing Jira project and issue permissions still apply.

04

Seamless experience for the user

Uploads, downloads and previews on a Jira issue look the same to the user. Artifactory handles the storage underneath.

03 / Use cases

  1. 01

    Large media on tickets

Designers and product teams attach 100 MB and 200 MB exports to the relevant ticket without bumping into Jira’s attachment limits.

  2. 02

Pinning build outputs to release tickets

Release tickets reference the exact binaries that shipped: zipped builds, installers, container manifests.

  3. 03

    Long-lived audit attachments

Compliance evidence such as screenshots, PDFs and signed approvals lives in a versioned repository instead of inside the application database.

04 / Business outcomes

01

Smaller Jira database

Files move out of the Jira database into Artifactory. Index times, backup windows and disaster-recovery scope stop scaling with attachment size.

02

One repository for binaries across teams

Engineering, design and compliance reach for the same Artifactory instance instead of scattered SharePoint folders, S3 buckets and email threads.

03

Storage on the platform priced for it

Object storage in Artifactory replaces application-database storage for large files.
